Licensure and Geographic Practice Area
Peter W. Schloss is licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas, though limits his practice strictly to the state of Missouri. Our practice is focused primarily in Clay County, Platte County, and Jackson County, Missouri, though depending on the client and the case, we do accept cases on Ray County, Clinton County and other areas within Missouri.
Legal Experience
Peter W. Schloss has been in private practice as an attorney and counselor at law since 2006. During that time he has tried scores of cases, and has obtained favorable settlements on many more.
Peter's legal practice includes civil litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants in tort and contract cases. Peter has represented clients on a variety of different claims including: breach of contract, suits on account and account stated, fraud, daycare negligence, slip-and-fall, automobile collisions, property damage, and many other types of claims. As part of his civil litigation practice, Peter has represented clients in cases with claims in excess of $3 million.
Peter also has extensive experience in domestic relations and family law. Peter has helped clients through divorces, custody battles, child support modifications, juvenile court cases, termination of parental rights cases, adoptions and contempt cases. Peter has obtained judgments and settlements in hundreds of domestic relations cases, including judgments requiring combined spousal maintenance (alimony) and cash payments in excess of $1 Million.
Peter also holds a position as a municipal prosecuting attorney and has significant experience in defending traffic tickets, ordinance violations, and drug and alcohol charges. In addition to his litigation practice, Peter also assists clients in the administration of estates, drafting wills and healthcare directives, business organization, contract review and drafting, pre-litigation dispute resolution and negotiation, and post-litigation collections.
